Lorient is a modest town with a sympathetic football club, which manages to stand their ground in Ligue 1 with limited resources. A very welcomingly club as well, and the Stade du Moustoir is seriously underrated if you'd ask us.
FC Lorient, stable and calm
There's clubs in football where not a day goes by without drama and chaos. Lorient isn't one of them. Le FCL usually plays anonymously mid table and doesn't come into big trouble mostly. Not bad, if you take their low budget into account, and that they didn't played in the French top flight until 1999. The club in orange isn't the most spectacular club of Britanny, but surely one of the most stable clubs.

Stade du Moustoir
Lorient is a very uncluttered city where nothing is really far away, with the stadium right in the center of the city. It's officially called Stade Yves Allainmat (to a former mayor), but everyone calls it Stade du Moustoir. It has only space for 18.000 fans and is rarely sold out. The outside isn't that much, but the inside of the stadium is nice, because of the contrast between two old stands and two new stands. The orange club colours come back in every detail of the stadium, which gives it a real own feeling.
Les Merlus; symbol of the club and the city
In the modest harbour city on the south coast of Britanny, the fishery and the football club have been walking hand in hand for decades. After all, the club was founded by Madame Cuissard, a famous fishmonger from Lorient. It gave FC Lorient the nickname Les Merlus, the hakes. The fish are the symbol of the town and even have a place in the football club's crest. In most of the restaurants in Lorient the hake is on the menu, but if you would like to buy it fresh, it's also possible. Go to Halles de Merville, the rotunda building on Avenue Antatole France, where you can buy it in all kinds and measures.

Training ground Espace FCL
Not far from the ocean is hamlet Kerlir located, about ten minutes outside Lorient. Along the D152 you'll find the training ground of Lorient. It might not look like it, but still it's one of the most advanced training grounds of France. First team trainings are usually open to public and easy accessible.
Tickets
Tickets for home matches are easily bought on the official website of the club. You can also buy them in the fan store at Rue du Port 35, not far from the stadium. Against most opponents you can also buy tickets on the evening of the match at the stadium.
How to get there
The Stade du Moustoir is quit centrally located in the city. When you stand on the Place Jules Ferry, with the harbour behind you, it's only a walk of five minutes.
